Glass aquariums

Glass aquariums are still popular today, even though acrylic is becoming the material of choice for many fish lovers. Here are some of the reasons why glass will remain one of the best materials for an aquarium:

• Price – glass aquariums cost less than acrylic ones, overall.
• Yellow-B-Gone – glass does not yellow with time as acrylic can. But do keep your eye out for future acrylic tanks which may be more UV resistant.
• Fewer Scratches – acrylic is not as scratch resistant as glass
• Less Needed Support – glass requires less brace support.
• Color-Free – acrylic tends to lend a bluish tint to aquariums and glass lends a greenish tint. Of course, it is possible to pay a price and get color-free glass.

These are, of course, just the benefits of glass aquariums. Acrylic fish tanks also have their own list of benefits, including their lighter weight, greater flexibility, and lesser insulation.
