Saltwater
fish tanks can be a lot more difficult to maintain then freshwater tanks
but they can also be a lot more beautiful. There is a large variety
of exquisite tropical saltwater fish that can’t be found in a
freshwater tank.
Since saltwater tanks tend to be more temperamental it’s important
to keep them clean and to keep the eco-system balanced. Small changes
can cause the delicate balance to fluctuate. This includes changes
in temperature, algae growth, bacteria and other elements. This means
that the better the tank the more likely a saltwater environment will
survive. Larger tanks are less affected by small environmental changes
or if they are affected it takes longer. So you have more time to
fix the problem. A large tank that is less affected by changes counterbalances
a temperamental saltwater environment.
When purchasing fish from your aquarium remember that freshwater
fish cannot survive in a saltwater environment and vice versa. If
you’re new to having a saltwater tank then it’s a good
idea to start out with fish that can handle changes better without
getting sick or dying. A few of these types of fish include; Clownfish,
angel, hawk, cardinal, and damsels. Once you feel you have mastered
the art of keeping these fish happy and healthy it’s probably
safe to move on to more exotic types of fish.
While saltwater fish tanks can be more work it’s worth it.
They truly stand out in their unmatchable stunning beauty.
